Minister of Music
First Baptist Church (FBC), located in historic downtown Savannah, Georgia is a congregation affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. FBC was chartered in 1800 and its current sanctuary completed in 1833, making it the oldest standing house of worship in Georgia. It is one of the very few Southern churches that remained open throughout the Civil War.
FBC is a growing congregation in part due to our commitment to following the example of Jesus Christ, who welcomed, accepted, and loved all individuals. We strive to follow that example by accepting every person without regard to age, race, ethnicity, mental or physical disability, gender identity, or socio-economic status. We embrace the tradition of liturgical worship allowing us to draw from the best of worship traditions and practices.
Our church has a long history of an excellent music ministry. We currently have both an Adult Choir and a handbell choir. Our church has also supported the Savannah Men’s Chorale and other community musical groups. We have an extensive music library that has provided a variety of choral anthems, both old and new. Our sanctuary houses a 1922 E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ of 68 ranks. It is the oldest and largest in the Savannah region.
