Executive MBA Application Checklist
Do you want to get your MBA from one of the most respected programs in the nation? Would you like to learn from world-renowned faculty that bring academic research and industry experience into the classroom? Application Process
- an in-depth application walk-through with a member of our admissions team to go over requirements, best practices, and your timeline to application submission
- Gather the following materials and apply at (No application fee required)
- Required essays:
- CAREER GOALS — (100 words or less) What are your short-term career goals and long-term professional ambitions? Please include your target industry, function, sector, and/or organization, as applicable.
- WHY NOW + PROGRAM FIT — (150 words or less) Why is now the right time in your career and life to pursue an MBA? What makes the MBA program and format you selected the right fit for your goals, professional experience, and current commitments?
- FIVE THINGS ABOUT YOU — (30 words or less per response) The Cox MBA is a close-knit community where students learn with and from one another. Beyond your professional experience and accomplishments, what are five things you would want your classmates to know about you?
Your responses might reflect your experiences, interests, perspectives, values, or something else that helps us get to know you beyond your résumé.
- Unofficial Transcripts: Upload with your application; or send electronically to coxgradtranscripts@smu.edu. (Note: Transcripts are required from all colleges and universities where you completed 12 or more credit hours.)
- OPTIONAL: Submit Standardized Test Scores (GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment): Test scores are not required, but they can support your application amongst other applicants.
- Professional Recommendation: One professional recommendation is required, but you do not need to submit a letter of recommendation. You will need to enter the name, email address, company/organization, and title of at least one person that can recommend you. .

- Accept your admission offer by submitting your MBA Reply Form in your
- Submit your $2000 Enrollment Deposit to reserve your seat
- Activate your my.麻豆社 and Email Accounts: you will receive an email with information and instructions on how to activate your 麻豆社 student account and email
- After receiving communication from your advisor, schedule a meeting to review orientation, course registration, and other key information
- Complete optional prep work provided by the Student Enrollment and Engagement team
- Connect with your professors, network with your peers, and take your first class!
